Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” |

Justice: righting the wrongs. There are approximately 10,000 street children in the Northern Baja of Mexico. Children are dropped off at orphanages daily. Families are on the brink of being torn a part because they can no longer afford to raise
their children. They are need of help!
We believe that most of us have a desire to know our lives can make a difference in this world. We want to know that our lives matter. We want to know that we can change things and make things better. This is especially true among teenagers. We have seen teenagers do amazing things on these trips. We have seen them give of themselves in ways that are just amazing. Adults who have gone have been affected by this experience in ways that cause them to consider a life of service and sacrifice for others.
It is our hope to bring these two worlds, ours and Mexico’s, together so that both are impacted. When we join God in what he is doing in this world, caring for the poor, orphans and widows, our lives are impacted and changed as well as the lives of those whom we serve. We are drawn closer to what God has created us to be and do, live in relationship with Him and serve others.
These trips are a catalyst to help us live in a way that changes the world in whichwe live in daily. That there are hurting people around us everywhere we walk, the family next door, the family on our child’s sport’s teams, our co-workers. Mexico is a reminder that our lives do matter and they can make a difference in Mexico and in the world in which we travel daily. |

Why go to Mexico? Why service trips? What do we hope to accomplish? Because it changes things. It changes people’s lives in Mexico that we serve through better living conditions, offering love through meeting real needs, partnering with an orphanage and a day care that continues to help people in need, it brings the people in Mexico closer to God. It changes the people who go to Mexico. It is an eye opening experience to see first hand that the rest of the world does not live the way we do. It changes how we see and live life. It changes, however big or small, our understanding that we were made to love and serve others the way Jesus modeled. It changes our view of God and our role in this world. It changes our views on what is really important in life. It changes the story we chose to live in.

We travel to La Mision, Mexico. La Mision is about 1 hour south of San Diego and 30 minutes north of Ensanada right on the Baja coast. La Mision is a small rural community of about 3000 people.

In La Mision is a great orphanage called Door of Faith. The orphanage has two different group housing areas for us to stay at on their campus. La Mision also has a no-cost day care, Open Arms Daycare that has dorms for groups.

The past 5 years we have partnered with Open Arms Daycare and Door of Faith Orphanage.
Open Arms Daycare provides no-cost daycare 6 days a week for families who have children and one or both parents work. Open Arms provides two meals a day, pays for their school and supplies, teaches parenting classes, teaches them the love of God and much more. We have done construction projects, art projects with the children, improved the living conditions of their employees who live in La Mision and much more.
Door of Faith Orphanage is home to over 100 children from infants – high school. They are one of the few orphanages that will accept infants and even pre-mees. Door of Faith has an incredible atmosphere of family. They celebrate birthdays with cake and go all out for Quicnerras. They teach their children to serve their community by doing various service projects in La Mision and the surrounding area. They provide scholarship money for their students who want to go on to college. They are reaching out to other orphanages to better their orphanages. We have done construction projects, provided a dinner for the children, painted, art projects for the children, played countless soccer games and much more.

We have lead over 450 people to La Mision Mexico over the past 5 years and have established a solid relationship with the Orphanage and Daycare. We are familiar with the area that we travel and know of possible safety issues.

The residents of La Mision are familiar with groups who come into their town to serve the day care, orphanage and as well as them. The crime rate is very low and the people are friendly. La Mision does not experience what you may see and hear on TV in regards to the drug violence or even the swine flu. We drive across the Mexican boarder during the day through Tijuana, on a highway that is known as one of the safest highways in Mexico. Students are not allowed to go off by themselves, but must be in a group of 4 or more and often accompanied by an adult.
We understand that sending your student or family to Mexico is a risk, especially if you have never gone before. Due to our experience we do all that we can to provide a safe, fun and meaningful experience, but we cannot guarantee 100% safety. But we do believe that this is a very safe trip to attend.
